Happy Holidays

Christmas is almost here and I still have a lot to get done so this will be my last post until after Christmas. I thought I'd share my finished "Holiday" socks.

P1010160

I used Claudia Handpainted sock yarn in the Peppermint Latte colorway which I bought at the Loopy Ewe a while ago. I used a size 1 Addi turbo, magic loop style and the spaced checks pattern from More Sensational Knitted Socks. I started these right after Thanksgiving and worked on them a little each night. It really kept me in the holiday spirit.

I hope you all have a wonderful Holiday and safe trips to all who we will be traveling!

No whirling today

I've been so busy with holiday preparations that I've had very little opportunity to spin so instead I'll show you one of my latest fo's.

This is Gretel. I'd first seen this hat on Carole's blog and thought this hat my actually may look good on me. You see I've never found a hat that actually looks good. Most hats look down right ridiculous on me. I bought the pattern and remembered I had a skein of Beaverslide yarn leftover from when I knit Ariann that would be perfect and last Thursday during the snow storm I cast on. The pattern was a lot of fun to work. I used the magic loop with a size 7 knit picks circular instead of double points and it knit up fairly quickly.

You know what it doesn't look half bad. I really like and it's so warm to wear while waiting for the bus to come with my kids.

Yesterday afternoon I went and had all my hair cut off. What do you think? I was getting really sick of it. My hair is really thick which some might think is a good thing. Not only is it thick but if frizzes and feels a lot like a horses tail does. So I decided it was time for a new look. It was actually very freeing after I got over the initial shock. That's it for now I've got a run and wrap up the presents I'll be back for one last post on Friday. Have a great day all!

Just a little post

Things are so crazy around here. There's Christmas cookie baking to be done, Christmas shopping to be finished, My oldest son's birthday to get ready for and all the various things I have to do to get the house together. Oh and over the weekend my husband decided to paint the kitchen, as if I didn't have enough aggravation. Don't get me wrong I'm thrilled that the kitchen is finally getting painted. I've been wanting it done since we moved in 9 years ago, but not two weeks before Christmas! He did get one wall painted and after explaining to him that I really need to have my kitchen back until after Christmas he cleaned up and put everything away. Now the cookie baking can commence. He as a week off from work after Christmas so we'll get it done then.

I do have a quick fo show you. As you might have noticed blogging hasn't been at the top of my list the last week or two so I didn't have a chance to show you this one.

These are the gauntlets from the The Purl Stitch. I made myself a pair a few years ago and when I was taking out the fall knits she saw them and said she'd like a pair in her favorite colors red, and black. I just happened to have a skein of Yarn Nerd in the Love and Peace or Else colorway.

As you can see she loves them and she said all her friends at school that they were "so cool".

Last but not least, the winner of the little Nice Matters Contest I had. The winner is Amanda. Congrats! I'll be sending you a fibery prize soon!

Have a good one all!

Nice Matters

Nicemattersaward

I was nominated for the Nice Matters Award by both Tonia and Chris.

It is to be awarded to “Those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world. ”

I was touched that both they nominated me for such an award. I consider both Chris and Tonia to be great friends of mine. Chris is so funny and talented. I love her wicked since of humor and of course she has cute Buns too! Tonia is so sweet and has been commenting on my blog almost since the beginning. I always enjoy reading her blog. Thanks girls for nominating me although with my lack of commenting and blogging over the last few weeks I'm not sure I deserve it. I promise after the holidays things will go back to normal (hopefully). Ok so now I must nominate 7 people. I really wish I could nominate everyone as I think you are all deserving and are very special to me but rules are rules. My seven people are Christine, Zonda, Katy, Pat, Karen, Karen , and Julie.

Since I think you are all deserving I will take a cue from Chris. Leave a comment and I'll randomly pick a winner out of the people I wasn't able to nomintate. You have until midnight Sunday and I'll announce the winner on Monday. Have a great night all!
