It's all about the socks

As the title implies all I've been knitting lately is socks. Partly because they are my favorite thing to knit and I have an abundance of sock yarn at the moment and partly because I can't decide on what big project to start next. It's between the beautiful Cherry Country Shawl which will be knit with my handspun or the Noro Butterfly sweater. So unit l figure it out socks it is.

I have finished a few pairs of socks this month and here are the ones I haven't shown you yet:

P1010275

I finished these about a week and a half or so ago. I used the stems pattern from More Sensational Socks and Alpaca Sox yarn on a size 1 Knitpicks circular needle. The yarn was great to work with but due to the variegation the pattern kind of got lost but I do like the texture it gave to the socks. They are very soft and cozy to wear.

Here's a better picture of the actual color of the socks.

P1010276

I just finished these socks on Sunday. The yarn is Chewy Spaghetti and I believe the colorway is Remembrance. I used the Monkey sock pattern and a size 1 Knitpicks circular needle. Both pairs of socks were done two at time.

I have several pairs on the needles now and I'll show those to you in another post. Have a great day all!

Loopy Ewe Swap Goodies

This post has been a long time coming but due to all the sickness that's been going on around here I haven't had a chance to post about this wonderful package.

Rachel was my swap pal and she sent me a great package!

P1010277

Frist the socks which were knit out of oh so soft Panda Cotton.  They were so very comforting to wear while I wasn't feeling good. The pattern is really cool and I love the color. How did she know I'm going through a pink phase right now?

P1010278

She also sent me some great goodies like Yarn Love sock yarn in beautiful purples and pinks, some Vermont coffee, magnet, postcard, and little address book. Thank you Rachel for a really great package!

Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow to show you some finished socks.  Have a great day all!

Watermelons

This going to be a quick post. My little guy and I are sick which is why I haven't been blogging at all this week. He hasn't been sleeping well at all at night so I've been up with him the last 3 nights. He seems a bit better this morning so hopefully he'll be on the mend soon. The other two kids are home this week for February vacation and I'm crossing my fingers they don't get sick too.

P1010282

I did manage to finish off my Watermelon socks as well as another pair that I will show you next week. I used a size 1 Knitpicks circular , my basic sock pattern, and the yarn is from Freshisle Fibers. These were so much fun to knit especially during the gray days of Winter.

I'm going to take the rest of the week off and I'll be back next week with a few more finished knits as well as the wonderful Loopy Swap package I received last week.  Hope you all have a great rest of the week!

Whirling Wednesday

This week I have three new yarns to show you.

P1010268

These first two are superwash corriedale from Spunky Eclectic. The top one is "Confused" and the bottom is "Flutterby". Both are 15 wpi which is a sport weight yarn.

P1010273

This last one is from the recent Spunky Club selection. It's Icelandic wool in "Snow Squall". The colors are gray, blue, and green. I'm sorry for the crappy picture but it's been gray and rainy for the past few days and it was hard to get a decent shot. I haven't checked the wpi on this one but I believe it's about a DK weight.

I decided not to do an update in the shop this week. Instead I thought it would be fun to play around with some interesting fibers I had bought at Rhinebeck.

P1010274

I can't remember who I bought this from but it's a mix of different fibers some threads, and some sari silk.

P1010276

I spun up half of the fiber and on the wheel now is some plain black merino which I will ply this with and see how it comes out. If all works out well I spin up the other half. I usually don't spin novelty type yarns but when Katy had pointed this out to me at Rhinebeck I thought it looked like it'd be fun to play with. It was an interesting spin and I can't wait to see what the finished yarn will look like.

That does it for this weeks Whirling Wednesday. Have a great day all!

2 socks rock!

P1010267

I finished up the 2-at-a-time socks on Friday. I really enjoy knitting the socks this way. It was great to not have to cast on for the other sock and they only took me a week! The technique was simple to learn and if you follow the directions closely turning the heel is a piece of cake. The yarn I used was Vesper sock yarn in the "Strange little mama" colorway and a US1 32 in. Knitpicks circular needle.

P1010270

Friday night I cast on for another pair of socks. The pattern ( which I really couldn't get to photograph) is Stems from More Sensational Socks and the yarn is Alpaca Sox that I purchased from the Loopy Ewe a while back. I figured a ripped pattern is best sind alpaca is kind of on the drapy side and I wanted the socks to retain there shape.

That's all for now have great day all!
